For anyone following this, it looks like my answer is . The interface is , it does full text search, it archives pages, it has a browser extension, it works with , it does the same kind of read/unread tracking that I wanted from , and it plays well with the rest of my things. Thanks so much to @readeck for making sure to build an interface that is fully accessible. The only thing I'm lacking is an app. And the ability to share some labels publicly would also be neat. But otherwise, Readeck is perfect for my use-case. @netzhexe I really like this interface! Sadly, it's just a bit too minimalist for me. No archiving of page contents, and no full text search. Those are both things I want to make my dream of replacing Google to find things I already know about a reality.

I'm still on the hunt for a good self-hosted link manager. is okay, but only on IOS and mac, not windows. uses hover for, like, everything, making it almost completely inaccessible. has basically no labeled buttons or links. I want something that's , cross-platform, , will archive pages, and offers full-text search. Three quarters of the time when I use Google, I'm just searching for something I already know about. In an ideal world, a selfhosted link/bookmark manager would reduce my dependence on big-tech search engines. Maybe ? But that looks like it's more about storing the data than actually doing anything useful with it like search or tagging or whatever.

Why do nine million things all want access to .well-known? Makes reverse proxy configuration so annoying. And half of them don't even document what they want.

• Removed woof, since the original pronunciation is valid

@jscholes @FreakyFwoof @JamminJerry I’m old enough to remember when fics were posted on Usenet. They were split over multiple posts because there was a maximum number of lines for each post. So authors would say chapter 1, part 1 of 47.

@FreakyFwoof @JamminJerry It could actually be kind of a fun art exhibit. Like, the story of an author told entirely through author's notes on their fic. But the actual fic is never written.

@FreakyFwoof @JamminJerry The three of us should start a Harry Potter fanfic with a really interesting looking summary, and then just make every chapter a collection of author's notes. Just 150 thousand words of authors notes.

@JamminJerry @FreakyFwoof Even worse when the author goes back, edits a chapter to remove an author's note, and then the next chapter has another author's note referring to the previous deleted one!

AI discussion I went through the titles of my GPT chats from last year, hoping to find something funny to share with everyone. But it turns out I'm the worlds least interesting person. Some of the things I was interested in included:

Good grief! When did I become a boring adult who does boring adult things in my boring adult life? Also, these are all questions that the old Google could have helped me answer. But now I use Chat GPT because googling them just results in endless ads and SEO spam.
