@ivory No, I'm a new ivory user. Sadly, Ivory doesn't quite meet my needs for other reasons: no per-user boost filters and no way to filter replies from my home timeline. Good app otherwise, though! Just not for me.

Extremely short and stupid from just as I was waking up this morning. I got on the bus (the 53 Steeles East from Finch Station in Toronto, if you want to be exacting about it). Someone sat down next to me and said "Hi, I'm bubbles!" I answered, "Wow, bubbles? That's a stupid name." So she punched me in the face and I woke up. Uh...okay.

@adam They were links to open protocol stuff like Matrix channels and friendica instances. So I could use the API's to check what they were sending with command line tools. I just had to know! Is this the least mainstream catfishing attempt ever? I'm still not sure.

@jscholes LibreWolf updates the fork within a week of a new firefox release. The main difference is removal of advertising features and better defaults. So I'm not too worried about bugfixes. I'm more worried about what they are and aren't removing.

Is anyone else getting this baffling spam from Nicole, who wants to be called the fediverse chick? I thought it was porn spam, but it links to a matrix room, an abandoned Discord, a friendica, and other equally baffling places. Eventually there are confusedly trolling neonazis, but at no point do I get sold anything, or exposed to pictures of breasts, or whatever.

@MostlyBlindGamer I am terrified of C. If I even think too hard about buffer overflows and memory pointers I'm afraid I might create a bug that causes my keyboard to explode while also sending all of my personal data to Outer Mongolia.

So the primary thing I've learned from trying out the Ducky One is just how much lag my previous keyboards (a codekeyboard and a razer) were adding. I use a , so I'm deeply aware of the audio lag from headphones and the audio subsystem, and configure things to reduce that as much as I can. I also knew bluetooth can introduce lag. But on picking up the Ducky...wow! A few ms can really matter! My system feels faster than it's ever felt before. Even if I wind up returning this, now I know that keyboard refresh rate is a thing I care about. Also, the inductive switches feel really nice and clicky to press, but are reasonably quiet for those around me.

@mcourcel changed the privacy policy so they can sell your data now and have more claim to ownership of data you enter into the browser, introduced an acceptable use policy that could be read to say that looking at adult material using firefox is no longer allowed, and hired the guy formerly responsible for marketing and growth at Facebook.

Hey, people! I just got myself a One X wireless mechanical keyboard. As a user who finds myself constantly running out of keyboard shortcuts, multi-level actuation sounded really exciting to me. Unfortunately, the browser-based programmer at duckyhub.io is entirely inaccessible. Apparently it uses a standard called or something? I don't build mechanical keyboards; I use them because I love the feedback, so I'm not deep enough into the hobby to know much about this. A browser-based programmer gave me hope that programming would be , but at least with the official website, that hope turned out to be false. So before I return this thing, do these standards mean there might be other software I can try to program the keyboard, to see if it's more accessible for me?

Does anyone know if or any other privacy focused forks keep and other features? Sadly, most of these projects seem to consider accessibility an unneeded feature that ads bloat and security issues and just strip it out completely, so I don't have high hopes. This just seems to be the latest one getting popular after the recent issues.

@GothFvck So the thing that I like most about the fediverse is that there are thousands of less permanent instances. As soon as you get something as large, expensive, and important as The Internet Archive, it becomes a target, and everyone gets overly dependant on it. I'd rather hundreds or thousands of instances storing the shows they care about. Then if five or ten go away, nothing is lost.
