completely blind computer geek, lover of science fiction and fantasy (especially LitRPG). I work in accessibility, but my opinions are my own, not that of my employer. Fandoms: Harry Potter, Discworld, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Buffy, Dead Like Me, Glee, and I'll read fanfic of pretty much anything that crosses over with one of those.

@alexhall I use it for pulling data out of graphs or CSV files and answering questions about it. At least on Windows, there's still no good sonification tools for random online graphs. But AI does good enough if you just give it an image. And when it goes wrong, at least for graphs, it's usually completely obvious.

@alexhall I did the $25 a month plan because I was previously paying for Chat GPT, so why not cancel that and have everything on one bill. Plus Kagi gives GPT4o, as well as a ton of other models for when OpenAI starts censoring too hard.

@jscholes @kagihq You can also do it by pressing the domain info link beside a search result that you don't like. Just select the block radio button and hit escape to close the dialogue. The only real issue is that answers from the assistant aren't read out automatically in real time as they come in. I filled an issue for that if you want to upvote: kagifeedback.org/d/5996-announce-new-results-from-assistant-using-aria-live

If you're a user, you should really consider for web search. Especially if you pay for chat GPT pro, you can subscribe to Kagi instead for cheaper and get more features. But even if you don't want AI, the search page is , fast, and light-weight. And unlike other big tech companies (Microsoft and Google) Kagi still offers a cheaper plan with no AI if you don't want it. Also, because they downrank websites with ads, the more accessible results tend to be at the top. Kagi also lets you block domains from your results. So I got rid of inaccessible stuff like instagram and pinterest, and downranked YouTube, because those results aren't usually accessible. While I don't agree with many of the opinions of the @kagihq founder (especially his decision to do business with Yandex for image search), I still feel like using Kagi is more ethical than dealing with Google or Bing, and that these are reasonable differences of opinion that reasonable people can have, not just another clownishly evil tech company. I also find the idea that if you're a paying customer, that somehow guarantees the business will treat you better, really strange. I pay a lot to my ISP and they still treat me like dirt! Kagi will almost certainly sell out at some point. But for the moment, it's where it's at for search: www.kagi.com

Dear winget: It would be nice if you didn't uninstall, redownload, and reinstall ffmpeg every time you update yt-dlp. Thanks!

cors-origin headers are annoying, both to set and to debug.

@readeck Do you want content scripts as contributions? Or would you rather they be maintained separately for people who want them?

@readeck Yes, that works. So I guess I need to set config.singlePageLinkSelectors to find that link if I just bookmark chapter 1 instead of remembering to click the save html link?

@readeck While I'm bothering you: could we get a content script for archiveofourown.org? If you bookmark a work, archive of our own already offers a download epub option. Readeck can just use the epub it creates, rather than trying and failing to create its own. I looked at the documentation, but I can't find any way to overwrite the way it generates an epub for a given website. How would I do this?

@readeck So FYI: the way it works best for me is to ignore read/unread. I just archive things when I'm done with them, or when I just want to save them without taking any further action. I don't care if they get marked read or not.

@readeck I would tend to rename "unread" to "unarchived". Then have a filter that deals with the actual read/unread status, and will show both archived and unarchived items. Either that, or get rid of archived entirely. Maybe introduce the concept of collections. Like the default collections could be unarchived and archived, but users could create there own. And read/unread would show everything across all collections.

@readeck You're doing an excellent job! I'm currently going through my bookmarks because the goodlinks import didn't preserve the read/unread status. And I haven't found anything that's an issue yet.

@readeck So unread does not show archived items. So what's the point of marking an archived item read or unread? It feels like only one of these is needed. Either read/unread, or archived/unarchived. I think it's having both that leads to the confusion.

@readeck So will archived links still show in search? My use-case is to bookmark things that aren't really articles like software programs, etc, so I can find them later. But I'd like to archive them so they're out of my way when I'm looking for something to read.

@readeck I'm actually confused about this. So if you move something to the archive, it gets marked read? Can I have an unread item in the archive?

For anyone following this, it looks like my answer is . The interface is , it does full text search, it archives pages, it has a browser extension, it works with , it does the same kind of read/unread tracking that I wanted from , and it plays well with the rest of my things. Thanks so much to @readeck for making sure to build an interface that is fully accessible. The only thing I'm lacking is an app. And the ability to share some labels publicly would also be neat. But otherwise, Readeck is perfect for my use-case. If you're a person who wants a demo account to test it out and see if it works for you without going through all the bother of installation and set-up, send me a direct message.

@netzhexe I really like this interface! Sadly, it's just a bit too minimalist for me. No archiving of page contents, and no full text search. Those are both things I want to make my dream of replacing Google to find things I already know about a reality.

@blindndangerous @coffee_nebula Command line only though. Not sure I’d be able to live with that. The other one looks interesting though.

@blindndangerous @coffee_nebula I do. The idea is to replace Google when searching for something I know I saw before.
