@fastfinge Did you follow @ap.brid.gy from your Bluesky account? If I search for @fastfinge.interfree.ca@bsky.brid.gy here on sfba.social, I don't get any results, and the usual cause for that is if you haven't opted into to the bridge between ActivityPub and bluesky. (The person you mention who is on bluesky could use the same bridge to follow ActivityPub accounts who have opted into the bridge - lots more documentation at fed.brid.gy/docs ).
@fastfinge Hmm, I realize that I don't quite remember most of the details of this process. Your speculation that there could be some kind of cache or other delay, I guess in Bridgy Fed, is an interesting one.
@lynessence@tjolsen Assuming you're using the bluesky.social account, it works fine with Mona and Enafore. You can read your feed, post, follow, boost, etc.
@fastfinge@tjolsen They are working on re-writing tweesecake from the ground up, so hopefully this means the new app will work with other types of Fediverse instances.
@tjolsen@lynessence I use Enafore myself. It runs in the browser, but you can use forms mode and navigate it by hotkeys. Tweesecake has a bunch of other issues with displaying formatted posts, sometimes not detecting links, not easily allowing filtering and muting, etc. Plus I'm not running Mastodon and haven't for years.
@tjolsen@fastfinge I just signed up for Threads. I doubt I will sign up for Blue Sky as well. I'm questioning the wisdom of joining Threads, and I may not stick with it given how much info Meta tracks, but I was curious. I also love the vibe on Mastodon and I doubt either Bluesky or Threads are as good. Not to say that mastodon is perfect, I definitely know it is not considering that I am running an instance and see some disturbing reports, but it’s still better than Twitter ever was.
@lynessence@tjolsen The vibe on Bluesky is...okay. Because of how it works, nobody ever really gets banned. So there are lots of blocklists and moderation services you can subscribe to, and it comes with one by default. But it's really not possible to just defederate entire servers full of idiots the way it is on Mastodon/the fediverse.
