My Cordcutting Solution: I haven't paid for a cable subscription for years. This is what works for me as a watcher: stuff.interfree.ca/2025/05/07/accessible-cordcutting.html

@fastfinge Is this a non-clickable link on purpose to make people copy/paste it into a browser? And no I'm not being snarky, it's a genuine question.

@FreakyFwoof No. It's fully clickable. It's just that the blindy clients grab the HTML version and convert that to text, removing the link in the process, even though a text version is fully available. They're just not smart enough to look for it. But if you check Enafore, or the Mastodon web interface, or Mona, or literally any normal app, you can click the link.

@fastfinge Tis odd. Of course I can copy/paste it and I will, was just curious. My assumption is that you typed it without adding https to the link, which is why as you say, blindy clients ignore it.

@fastfinge @FreakyFwoof that is very odd. I type URL's all the time, and tweesecake sees the whole URL, but maybe that is because I am doing it in tweesecake?

@JamminJerry @FreakyFwoof Correct. Tweesecake doesn't support HTML formatting in posts. So tweesecake interacts fine with itself and anything that also doesn't support that.

@fastfinge @FreakyFwoof what I would love to know is a lot of sighted people that I follow post links all the time, and I see them as actual links, and can interact with them. that is just very strange.

@JamminJerry @FreakyFwoof Because they're using Mastodon, not something else like Go To Social or Iceshrimp or Pleroma or Akoma or Lemmy or KBIN.

@fastfinge @FreakyFwoof ah, ok. it is just something I really didn't know, as on my home timeline, yours seem to be the only ones that get the http or https stripped out.

@JamminJerry @FreakyFwoof Just for fun, I wonder what happens if I type it twice? https//stuff.interfree.ca

@fastfinge @FreakyFwoof they are doing a complete rewrite of it. I don't know any kind of ETA on it, but I do know it is totally being rewritten.

@fastfinge Mine never do, if I post a link or if anyone else posts links, they don't get removed. I can click 99% of links around here.

@FreakyFwoof Yup because most people use mastodon. If you follow people on iceshrimp or go to social or pleroma is when it breaks.

@FreakyFwoof @fastfinge Even on Mastodon, you have to post https:// with every link, breaks too, it's not only about GTS, or the other stuff, it broke for Mastodon too when I used it. No idea what client you're using. :)

@tardis @FreakyFwoof I do post https. Your client removes it because I don’t use mastodon and tweesecake is deeply broken in many ways.

@fastfinge @tardis @FreakyFwoof Yep Pachli and Tusky do not show the formatting but the link still works.

@dhamlinmusic @fastfinge @FreakyFwoof No, it's not about it not working, it works, you just have to copy paste it, or enter post and click it, and the previous link I saw from the block worked correctly if I'm not mistaken.

@fastfinge @FreakyFwoof I am not using mastodon either. The thing is, it shows up a bit broken here too, maybe look at how it does it. Because every time I post a link, it should be broken too, but it's not.
