ChristmasEvery year around this time, I start tuning into the various #Christmas Music #radio options I have access to. This year, at least for background listening, it seems like Apple Music's Holiday Hits wins Christmas. Decent variety of styles and artists, the promos and transitions are good, and it's ad free. Then, of course, for more intentional listening, my playlist of tens of thousands of rarely played Christmas songs. Other options: iHeart has too many ads and not enough variety, sky.fm hasn't updated the Christmas offering in like 15 years, YouTube Music is just AI generated playlist slop, and all of the public #shoutcast streams I know of are either low sound quality, full of ads, or low variety. LiveOne, as every year, is a close second; good variety, few ads, and that radio sound I enjoy at Christmas. CBC Music and Stingray Music are also good, but unfortunately they have way too many different Christmas channels, resulting in not enough variety on each one, and too many choices for all day work day listening. Where are you getting your Christmas #music this year? #InternetRadio#streaming
Christmas@fastfinge when I am ready for it, which won't be until December first, I will listen to my stations automation, where I will have christmas music running.
Christmas@fastfinge the only reason I still do mine, is with my health, I can't commit to a show on a schedule, so I just run my little thing that I don't have broadcasters on that is automation, and then when I want to do a show, I can. smile.
Christmas@dhamlinmusic@fastfinge well like I said, I have a reason for mine, and it isn't one I advertise to get broadcasters. if my friends tune iinto it, awesome, but otherwize it is just there so I can do shows, and even the automation is my favorite songs only unless someone makes a request. smile. I don't want or try to compete with other stations either.
Christmas@JamminJerry@fastfinge i already break Spotify's AI DJ's brain with it trying to make sense of my tastes. Yesterday it went from Dr Dre through various similar artists, into Epica, back to rap, then in order Linkin Park, Eminem, Guiseppe Tartini, and into A Tribe called Quest.
re: Christmas@fastfinge@JamminJerry I would love to see the Fediverse embrace community-oriented internet streaming radio as a big F-U to the status quo
re: Christmas@feld@JamminJerry The big ones are mushroomfm.com, hkcradio.com, the plague, and radio free dish nuts. I don’t know any sighted folks who listen to any of them though.
