I'm surprised this news hasn't hit Mastodon yet but…apparently Amazon is going to be releasing a new Kindle app for Windows 11 in the Microsoft store sometime in May, and retiring Kindle for PC. They say the old app will no longer be available after June 30. No one knows if this just means it will literally no longer be available from their site, or if old versions of the app will no longer be able to download books after June 30. Everyone's afraid it's the second option because apparently that's what happened when they sunsetted the old Kindle for Mac app in favor of their new Kindle app in the Apple store. Sources:
