@feld Not using the MAC address is to avoid hostile dhcp servers tracking your device. It’s the same reason all modern devices rotate MAC addressing. If you need stable addresses, dhcp is the wrong tool.
@fastfinge they don't rotate the way you think, and it's only for wifi. Go look up the docs for both Android and iOS
iOS: random MAC address is tied to the SSID and won't change unless you delete the SSID and re-add it. No auto rotation unless it's an open wifi network or insecure (like WEP), and then it only rotates once every 14 days
Android: random MAC address is tied to the SSID and doesn't matter if you delete the SSID and re-add it; requires factory reset of phone to get a new MAC for that SSID. Open networks similar to iOS, but rotates once every 24 hours.
