completely blind computer geek, lover of science fiction and fantasy (especially LitRPG). I work in accessibility, but my opinions are my own, not that of my employer. Fandoms: Harry Potter, Discworld, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Buffy, Dead Like Me, Glee, and I'll read fanfic of pretty much anything that crosses over with one of those.

cors-origin headers are annoying, both to set and to debug.

@readeck Yes please!!! Then I could use readeck to track my ebooks as well.

@readeck Do you want content scripts as contributions? Or would you rather they be maintained separately for people who want them?

@readeck Yes, that works. So I guess I need to set config.singlePageLinkSelectors to find that link if I just bookmark chapter 1 instead of remembering to click the save html link?

@readeck While I'm bothering you: could we get a content script for archiveofourown.org? If you bookmark a work, archive of our own already offers a download epub option. Readeck can just use the epub it creates, rather than trying and failing to create its own. I looked at the documentation, but I can't find any way to overwrite the way it generates an epub for a given website. How would I do this?

@readeck So FYI: the way it works best for me is to ignore read/unread. I just archive things when I'm done with them, or when I just want to save them without taking any further action. I don't care if they get marked read or not.

@readeck I would tend to rename "unread" to "unarchived". Then have a filter that deals with the actual read/unread status, and will show both archived and unarchived items. Either that, or get rid of archived entirely. Maybe introduce the concept of collections. Like the default collections could be unarchived and archived, but users could create there own. And read/unread would show everything across all collections.

@readeck You're doing an excellent job! I'm currently going through my bookmarks because the goodlinks import didn't preserve the read/unread status. And I haven't found anything that's an issue yet.

@readeck So unread does not show archived items. So what's the point of marking an archived item read or unread? It feels like only one of these is needed. Either read/unread, or archived/unarchived. I think it's having both that leads to the confusion.

@readeck So will archived links still show in search? My use-case is to bookmark things that aren't really articles like software programs, etc, so I can find them later. But I'd like to archive them so they're out of my way when I'm looking for something to read.

@readeck I'm actually confused about this. So if you move something to the archive, it gets marked read? Can I have an unread item in the archive?

For anyone following this, it looks like my answer is . The interface is , it does full text search, it archives pages, it has a browser extension, it works with , it does the same kind of read/unread tracking that I wanted from , and it plays well with the rest of my things. Thanks so much to @readeck for making sure to build an interface that is fully accessible. The only thing I'm lacking is an app. And the ability to share some labels publicly would also be neat. But otherwise, Readeck is perfect for my use-case. If you're a person who wants a demo account to test it out and see if it works for you without going through all the bother of installation and set-up, send me a direct message.

@netzhexe I really like this interface! Sadly, it's just a bit too minimalist for me. No archiving of page contents, and no full text search. Those are both things I want to make my dream of replacing Google to find things I already know about a reality.

@blindndangerous @coffee_nebula Command line only though. Not sure I’d be able to live with that. The other one looks interesting though.

@blindndangerous @coffee_nebula I do. The idea is to replace Google when searching for something I know I saw before.

@blindndangerous @coffee_nebula No full text search sadly. Otherwise it’d be perfect.

I'm still on the hunt for a good self-hosted link manager. is okay, but only on IOS and mac, not windows. uses hover for, like, everything, making it almost completely inaccessible. has basically no labeled buttons or links. I want something that's , cross-platform, , will archive pages, and offers full-text search. Three quarters of the time when I use Google, I'm just searching for something I already know about. In an ideal world, a selfhosted link/bookmark manager would reduce my dependence on big-tech search engines. Maybe ? But that looks like it's more about storing the data than actually doing anything useful with it like search or tagging or whatever.

Why do nine million things all want access to .well-known? Makes reverse proxy configuration so annoying. And half of them don't even document what they want.

bad language Even our TTS changelogs are political, now:
• Three words, one name in root: autocracies, Mangione, ratfuck, milquetoast
• Removed woof, since the original pronunciation is valid

That was a giggle I needed on this Monday morning.
