How many people have ISPs which NAT them (CGNAT or whatever other contrived solution they've cooked up) and NAT hole punching is literally impossible?

Does anyone know of such an ISP/configuration?

@feld Do mobile ISP's count? A couple in Canada do really screwy things with CGNAT, and changing the outgoing IP mid session.

how does that work? wouldn't the entire TCP session have to be rebuilt with a new handshake?

@feld It sure does! Better hope your application can tollerate random connection drops and re-establish without you noticing anything. To be fair, the particular ISP I'm thinking of is a reseller. It seems to happen whenever the phone moves from one provider's infrastructure to another. Unfortunately, in my city, this can happen repeatedly while driving down the highway.

@feld Yup. And it sure surprises apps using UDP, or doing any kind of NAT traversal. There's a reason I don't have my phone with them anymore.
