And we begin the hashtag with a dream that’s utterly pointless and boring. 2024 is a year of disappointment, and this won’t help. The only dream I remember from last night was about attending my high school reunion. After arriving, I went to the refreshments table to get a glass of apple juice. Unfortunately, someone had just drank the last of it! So I sulked grumpily in the corner, listening to all of my classmates talk about how wealthy and successful they are now, while I couldn’t even get a glass of apple juice. I didn’t talk to anyone, and nobody talked to me. Yeah, that’s it. That’s the dream. Bleh.

So I’ve been sharing my Weird Dreams with the fediverse lately. Because I’m a bit of a nut, I figured: why not share my normal dreams as well? I’ll be doing that with the hashtag every morning. If you, too, find dreams interesting, feel free to join in! Some ground rules and background: as a teenager, I was extremely interested in dreaming. I practiced recall and put a lot of work into it, as the first step to lucid dreaming. While I never achieved it, to this day I can generally remember 1 or 2 dreams a night. I don’t believe dreams are supernatural, or have any deeper meaning.I just believe they’re fun, and sometimes an interesting way to get a glimpse of your own subconscious. Also, thanks to some medication I take, my dreams have become even more vivid over the last couple years. If I’m lucky enough to have any explicit dreams, I’ll be keeping those to myself! Will sharing my dreams with the world every morning get me any closer to my long abandoned goal of lucid dreaming? Will my subconscious get performance anxiety and stop dreaming entirely? Will the focus on writing up my dreams in something more than point-form for my dream diary make them even weirder? It’s a social experiment, bro! And you get to follow along on this journey of entirely unscientific and meaningless science! Yay! Yeah…feel free to filter out the hashtag entirely.

So in last night’s I got an email that the yearly renewal on the first name Samuel would be tripling in price. So I went to the website, you know the website where you pay every year to Renew your first name, to find a cheaper one. I calculated that even with the required gender change therapy, changing my name to Cindy would save me three hundred dollars a year! So I decided to change my name and gender. Uh, okay, then. I guess I know how much my subconscious values my gender identity?

@NVAccess Oh, also: in the OED addon dictionary, where word pronunciations are available, you can't press play with the keyboard. You have to route the mouse to the play emoji and left click it. Stuff like this is why I say it's "largely accessible". If you want to type a word, press enter, and read a definition and synonyms, you'll be happy. But things get dodgy when you venture off the beaten path.
